Compared with the daily magic in China, life in Scotland is still very stable this year.
Best of the Year
Let’s start with the happy DIY Best of the Year Awards Ceremony
Film and Television
Watched 19 anime, 18 TV series and 6 movies: https://movie.douban.com/people/62759792/collect?mode=list
DIY Drama of the Year: “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Yuguo Chapter”
This year’s anime gods fight, “Summer Returns”, “From the Abyss”, “Cyberpunk”, “Spy’s Playhouse”, “Changing Dolls Fall in Love”, “Chainsaw Man”… there are too many excellent works, but my favorite among them is “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Yuguo Hen”
I’m a long-time fan of Demon Slayer. I was touched by both burning and tearing. I returned triumphantly. Thank you UFO Club for the hospitality.

DIY TV series of the year: “Servant of the People”
Sparkling dramas and protagonists, but life is always more magical than drama, may there be no war in the world

DIY Movie of the Year: None
I haven’t watched too many movies this year, and I haven’t come across a movie that can last a whole year.
Books
9 books I read this year:
- “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”
- “The Road to Serfdom”
- “Flowers for Algernon”
- “The Golden Age”
- “The Autobiography of Franklin”
- “Hackers and Painters”
- “The End of Eternity”
- “A Brief History of Humanity”
- “The Courage to Be Disliked”
Although the number is only a handful, it is still a big improvement compared to the 1 book in 2021, and it brings a lot of harvest and happiness.
DIY Book of the Year: The Autobiography of Franklin
“The Autobiography of Franklin” is the book that has the greatest influence on me. The simple and unpretentious sentences reveal the wisdom of life and pragmatism. It has brought me a lot of thinking. Among them, the 13 virtues of daily introspection are also used by me.

Electronic products
DIY Electronic Product of the Year: Mijia PGG Cervical Massager
Compared with the “Cervical Spondylosis Rehabilitation Guide”, the massager is much more practical and a must-have for programmers. Note that it must be the Mijia APP model with full-body massage stickers. It is a life-saving tool when you suffer from back pain. However, the cervical spine massage function does not feel that useful.

Application
DIY App of the Year: Obsidian
After a bug occurred in Notion and a bunch of my notes were lost, I started looking for a local note-taking application and discovered Obsidian. I was instantly attracted by its powerful automation capabilities and extremely high degree of freedom. For details, see [“Life Recording System Based on Obsidian”] (/obsidian). But the shortcomings are also obvious. Limited by the Markdown format, the table and typesetting capabilities are much weaker than Notion. It is mainly local, so collaboration and sharing are not enough.

Games
Games played this year:
- “Pokémon Legend Arceus”
- “The Last of Us”
- “Aerobic Boxing 2”
- “The Circle of Elden”
- “God of War”
DIY Game of the Year: Elden’s Circle
Open world, soul system, can be played even with disabled hands, Elden’s ring is a god
What impressed me the most was the plot of Brother Wolf. I couldn’t bear it, so I turned around and ran away, forcing a happy ending.

Figure
DIY Figure of the Year: Kizunai Hello World Blonde Ver. Figure
It’s so cute. Although it has been postponed and waited for two years until Kizunai himself was dormant, the moment I saw the real thing it was all worth it.

life
At the end of last year, I finally ended my long-distance relationship and reunited with my boyfriend. My mental health and quality of life have improved a lot.
And weight

It’s a pity that I couldn’t bring the yogurt. All the procedures have been prepared for a long time, but I haven’t waited for the direct flight from China to Britain. The best option given by the agency is to transfer from Malaysia, which takes a long time. I’m worried about safety, so I just forget it.
Food
British food has always made me miserable, but the benefits of cooking time are very low when one person is alone. It is different with two people. The cooking time is about the same but the benefits are doubled, and the time of washing dishes is saved.
At first, Fa Xiao was cooking, but Fa Xiao really didn’t have any talent for cooking, and he would occasionally trigger the fire alarm, which made me miserable and scared. Later, it was changed to me.
I started learning from Gu Xiaopang in the Kitchen and Food Writer Wang Gang R at Station B. I was a little confused at first, but after I got started, I found that many things are common and it is quite easy.
The ones that I am more satisfied with include tomato and sausage braised rice, tomato and egg noodle soup, cola chicken wings, fried pork with chili, fried pork with cabbage, sukiyaki pot, and tomato meat sauce and cheese pasta.

live
The legal protection for renting a house in Scotland is very complete, but finding a house is particularly troublesome. On the one hand, landlords need to bear a lot of legal responsibilities and will be very cautious. On the other hand, Scotland has a sparse population and poor housing mobility. In addition, this year, the university in my city has irresponsibly expanded its enrollment. There are more wolves and less meat.

Normal rental landlords in Scotland generally require a relatively high income, local guarantor, employment certificate, company recommendation letter, previous landlord recommendation letter, third-party credit check and a lot of information. Among them, the credit check generally requires 6 people in the UK. If you have a stable residence for more than three months and meet the requirements, you are eligible to apply for house viewing. House viewing is a must and is equivalent to a job interview. After both parties are satisfied, you are eligible to submit a rental application. After receiving enough applications, the landlord will select the applicant who likes it the most or has the best conditions to rent. If you are lucky enough to be selected, the rental process is completed.
So the process is not an ordinary difficulty. I have been immersed in major rental websites every day since August, sending private messages and making phone calls. I have almost stayed in all the Airbnbs around me. The ups and downs are normal. Fortunately, the ending is good. I finally rented a house in October that was far beyond my expectations. The landlord is an interior architect who is very good at living. The layout and decoration are excellent. The neighborhood is safe and convenient, with plenty of light, floor heating and a big TV, and a fun attic.
OK
I was dragged to many places by my childhood friend this year.

January
Celebrating New Year with Henry’s family in Nottingham, setting off fireworks and watching deer fights

April
Self drive in the Lake District National Park with Henry and his family

Then went to London

May
Manchester, GAY Street and a comic shop (Chainsaw Man was unknown at the time)

July
Traveling to Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands with Henry and his family (an updated vlog is here)

Go hiking and picnicking in the surrounding area with your primary school classmates

August
I went to Birmingham with Henry and his family every year. Instead of going to live-fire shooting, which I wanted to do as a kid, I stayed in the hotel all night playing scripted killer games.

December
Went to Liverpool, Barcelona, and went to Rome, Vatican, Venice, Milan, Zurich, Interlaken, and Paris with Duchou
My mobile phone was stolen in Barcelona, but the Boqueria market is cheap and delicious, and the delicious freshly squeezed juice only costs one euro; I found Italian pasta in Rome to be terrible; I spent Christmas in the Vatican and got COVID-19 for the second time; there was water everywhere in Venice, there were no buses, only bus boats; in Milan Lan ate delicious Peking duck, but as a Beijinger, she was very angry after eating it; when she was a child, she sprained her leg while skiing in Interlaken, and was carried down the snow-capped mountains by a few Swiss well-wishers, so she canceled her trip to Iceland; she spent New Year’s Eve in the emergency room in Paris; when she was a child, she enjoyed super food as a disabled person at the airport. VIP service…
I will add a vlog later

Some little things
There are some little things that impressed me
January
The squirrels in the school park are very friendly, and I high-fived the cute little squirrel Twitter

June
I was infected with COVID-19 and had a fever for a few days, but it was nothing serious Twitter

July
The battery of Xiaomi 10 Pro is bulging. There is no place to repair it in the UK, so I transferred a third-party battery on Taobao and successfully replaced it Twitter

October
The Dark Mark appears in the sky (strange cloud)

November
I saw a double rainbow on my way to primary school Twitter

I picked up a 20TB mechanical hard drive and saw New gadgets | What to buy on Black Friday 2022?

December
“Scottish residents can move around downstairs” This blog was deleted at the request of the Chinese government and became part of the “correct collective memory”
(It turns out that even if you are blocked by a wall, you will be stared at, or you may be stared at even more closely.

Life Management
I have been using bullet journals to record my daily life since 2020 (see 2020 Year-End Summary 》, 《Life record system based on Obsidian》), which is of great help to me. It can help me understand my recent life status in time, and also partially makes up for my shortcomings of poor memory.

I saw Xinyi before I publish my weekly weekly report every week. I feel it is a good form. Publicity can make me take life more seriously and get feedback from some friends, so I am also considering starting to write a weekly or monthly report publicly.
I feel more and more that it is not feasible to record life all-in-one, so I divided some functions between Toggl and TickTick. Use Toggl to record what you are doing at each point in time and how much time you spend on certain items, and use TickTick for task management.
In addition, I am still using Eagle to manage pictures (looking forward to the next major version of the plug-in system), Anybox to manage bookmarks, and MoneyWiz to manage money.
Production
The company has developed very fast this year and faced many challenges. It has become stronger and stronger. For details, please see “A Letter to the RSS3 Community”. I am glad that the bear market has not had a big impact on us. We can continue to do things that we like and have meaning.
The company’s projects are (almost) all open source, so there is no need to summarize them separately now. This also means that there are many warehouses participating this year, and there are many interesting projects. Among them, I have spent a lot of time and my favorite is xLog. It is a blog platform relying on the Crossbell blockchain. All articles, subscriptions, comments, etc. will be uploaded to the chain. It is also the platform used by current blogs. You can see the blockchain information of this article at the bottom of the page.
But this year, there has been a lot of absence in the maintenance of old projects. The work of RSSHub cannot stop, so we paid TonyRL to do daily maintenance, while the maintenance of other projects is almost zero.

2023
In my last year in the UK, I will go to Singapore in the second half of the year.
Wish
My biggest wish is to be reunited with Yogurt as soon as possible 😭
I have passed my peak physical age, and my second wish is to be healthy.
