I HAVE A SPECIAL RSS USE TECHNIQUE

May 13, 2019 · Sharing

As you all know, RSS is a standard format used to aggregate information, which has the advantages of more efficient reading, better reading experience, ownership, etc.

This paper will not describe the benefits of RSS and the various readers, as there is already enough relevant web information. Here, let me tell you how to fully exploit the use of the RSS, which has been underestimated.

Reader

From the simplest, we can see how to subscribe to a blog with RSS.

Suppose you want to subscribe to the world’s cutest blog [Hi, DIYgod] (https://diygod.me/), it happens that it has provided a very thoughtful [RSS address] (https://diygod.me/atom.xml), you just need to find a suitable RSS reader.

Here are a few recommendations:

iOS and MacOS Platform - Reeder

Android Platform - Palabre and FeedMe

Open readers, enter links, click subscriptions

So we learned how to use it most.

Cloud service

That’s when you might find some problems.

You can only get an update if you keep a computer or a cell phone on, and if the hard-working DIYgod updates 100 articles a day, and the RSS output is limited, and then the computer starts in a day, then the reader refreshs, and you can only see the latest ones (of course DIYgod can’t do 100 updates a day, which is not a good example).

Also, you signed up on the phone and the computer, and you read it on the computer, and it’s still unread, and it’s bad if you subscribe to a lot of things.

So we need a service-end to synchronize and refresh the RSS content.

The largest number of people used were Feedly and Inoreader.

They are good, but I recommend more functional and freer self-building (https://github.com/HenryQW/docker-trrs-plugins).

Not only does self-building make data more manageable, it also has a wealth of plugins that can meet a wide variety of needs, such as full-text extraction, Fever API simulations, Dom manipulations, and turnover. The reader mentioned above can be used with it.

RSSHUb

It looks good, but it’s too few websites that offer RSS subscriptions, for reasons that are understandable: RSS discourages commercial practices such as advertising, privacy collection, and user retention.

We were certainly dissatisfied with this, and I initiated the project [RSSHub] (https://github.com/diygod/RSShub), which is simple: RSSHub asks for the source data you want and then output them in RSS format, making it all possible.

After more than 200 developers have been active for over a year, RSSHUb has supported nearly 600 data from over 300 websites, and these numbers are growing rapidly.

Here we share some of my usual paths:

  • What’s worth a list: careful subscription. It cost me a lot of money.

  • All kinds of wife’s work update: closed eyes.

  • Bilibili dynamics of micro and catcakes

  • DIYgod, focus on video dynamics: DIYgod, focus on UP, don’t brush stupid B.

  • Youtube video from JFlaMusic

  • Dcard Forum: A really interesting Taiwan Forum that fits Tiny Tiny RSS ‘s multi-bulk conversion plugin

  • PlayStation Store Free Game: Never again afraid to forget to take free games.

  • There’s a new route.

  • Heitsu Twitter dynamic: NSFW

  • Microblogging: No more scolding for missing microblogging.

  • An immediate working day alarm.

  • The public “micro” update

  • The bean petals are showing more than 7.5 cents.

  • It’s a hot list.

BT Download

Let’s say you’re a opera fan, and we can see how to use RSS to chase the right game for season 8.

RSSHUb has a few routings that support BT downloads, such as rights-based subtitle group subscription address: <https://rshub.app/zimuzu/resource/ 10733>, then we add a flyer parameter to filter out the 8th season: https://rsshub.app/zimuzu/resource/10733?filter=S08.

And then I pick a normal B.T. client, and I use a bunch of Download State.

Add the address to the BT client’s RSS subscription, so that the BT client will automatically download the latest episode to the hard drive when the opera is updated, and you can view it when you go home at night and turn on the TV.

I’ve recently signed up for a musical and a Japanese play.

Podcast

Suppose you’re a podcast lover, we can see how to expand your podcast library with RSS.

The podcast client can access RSS to check for updates to download new collections in the series, RSSHUb or [getpodcast] (https://getpodcast.xyz/) There are some RSS that support podcasts that can be used directly, such as ASMR radio that subscribes to an Internet-friendly music with iOS-alonged podcasts:

Associated

RSS can connect with all sorts of weird things through IFTTT.

One of the cases was my Telegram channel: https://t.me/awasomediYgod, which was updated through IFTTT by listening to many RSS updates, with DIYgod blog updates, DIYgod scallops cards, DIYgod Twitter updates, DIYgod favorites, DIYgod’s Internet-like music, and DIYgod’s bilibri notes…

So you can easily even use the RSS to control the switch lights, auto-print the little sister’s tweets, auto-tweet the rights game, and so on, although it may not be useful.

June 2nd update:

An excellent connection: [Downloading of my B-station Note Video]

These are some of the scenes and ways I’m going to use for RSS, and now you have a better understanding of the phrase “RSS is a format for information aggregation.”
